I recently received an email from my beautiful friend from home, Angie Baltor. She asked me the following questions. I decided that I will answer them on my blog because I am sure that she is not the only one with these questions!
Angie writes, "i really just want to hear all about everything with you right now. Do you miss your family? and how is your new family. and school. and life.. and how are you feeling? and what are people like there? and fashion? and music? how is the german going?? are you picking it up quickly??"
Do I miss my family? How is my guest family? I miss my family a lot! We constantly e-mail back and forth and Skype often so it is not too bad. I am trying to Skype with my family only once a month so I can fully embrace my exchange year and focus on speaking German here. My new family here is so nice. Sophie, the youngest sister, that is my age, just left for her exchange year in Belgium. We became pretty close over the summer. I miss her a lot!! Fritz, my guest Grandpa here, impressed with my voice, offered to pay for private vocal lessons for me while I am here. That is such a thoughtful gift! I am excited to start. He always helps me with my Trigonometry HW and he helped/forced me to understand Celsius. :)
How am I feeling?I have only been here for 2 months and I already feel like I have grown a lot! I do get sad every once in a while because I miss my friends and family but I think that is totally normal. The other exchange students feel the same way. It feels so good to be independent!
SCHOOL!?!?!:D I started school on the 15th. Although it is extremely difficult to understand the teachers, everyone is so understanding and so nice to me. My favorite class is English. It is the easiest class for me and I enjoy listening to my class mates cute accents. :) I have one friend that spend 8 weeks in England this summer. Even when I ask him to please speak in german, he refuses. He says, " I know that you need to learn German but I have to learn English!" So we made a deal that I speak german to him and he speaks english to me. :)
I have so much freedom in my school. It is a completely open campus so when I have a two hour lunch I can go home to eat or have a picnic in the park. On Wednesday and Thursday I get out at 12 pm and I have the whole afternoon free!
To get to school in the mornings, I ride with Christof(my guest dad). He works a bloc away from my school so It works out perfectly. To get home, I take the train and then the bus! I love it. :)
In my school here, each person has a major. Like in college. Mine is Music! I bring my guitar to school every thursday. :) It's awesome. Speaking of music.. I just got back from an amazing concert. My friend, Luis (an exchange student from Costerica), plays lead guitar in this awesome band and he invited me. Yesterday I went to their rehearsal too. All the guys are super awesome and I really love their music. I HAVE FRIENDS! :)
Their name is Arigato!
GERMAN!? I was supposed to go to a 2 week intensive German coarse in Zurich with the new exchange students but I was told that I should not go because I have picked up a lot of German this summer. I have a special german class in my school though. The only con about learning german in Switzerland is that everyone speaks Swiss German. I am learning High German. THey are almost two different languages. I cannot understand when people talk in Swiss german. My family talk in high german around me and I always have to remind my friends to do the same. At school, the teachers have to speak High German.
People? Everyone is extremely nice here! Walking on the street or taking the bus, everyone always says hello to each other. Even when you don't know them. I love it.

| Love these happy pants! :) |
Fashion?! H&M is everywhere here!! There isn't much difference in the style here for girls. Girls wear heals to school and it is so normal and awesome! Some guys have really awesome style and some are... interesting. For example, a bright green platted shirt with bright blue platted shorts?:/ I haven't changed my style too much. The only thing that is different is that I where these really awesome pants! All the girls where them with heels and I rock them with my All american, TOMS!! :)
I think I covered everything. But feel free to comment and ask me questions when your heart desires! :)
